To remember the past is to create a better future

The LRE United Kingdom’s main objective is to make this history relevant and accessible, especially for the younger generations.

Our projects

LRE United Kingdom engages in several projects and activities with a focus on remembrance and education.

Network & membership

LRE United Kingdom is a network of members and partners throughout the United Kingdom that share a united mission to preserve and to promote the history and heritage of the Second World War.

Each year, the annual LRE Forum, organised by the LRE Foundation, brings together members, partners, and tourism professionals for expert insights, networking opportunities, and dedicated travel trade events.

Following the success of the 2025 edition in Kraków – and earlier events in Aachen, Florence, Normandy, and Brussels -the LRE Forum returns in 2026 to Gelderland, the Netherlands, from 9 to 12 March. Gelderland is not only where the LRE Foundation was founded, but also hosts one of its main offices, making this edition even more special.

The 2026 programme – co-hosted by the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen – encourages the exchange of new ideas and best practices through a dynamic selection of activities, including:

Engaging panel discussions about WWII history, memory transmission and remembrance

Networking opportunities with WWII-related organisations, tourism and cultural heritage institutions and travel trade operators

Organised site visits to local memorials and museums
